This is a classic style which really refers to the shape of the skirt which will be full to varying degrees. The fullness is achieved by a large full gathered skirt supported by layers of netting or petticoat. This is a classic look for a traditional bride but more recently has also become popular for proms.
Sheath
This shape follows the contours of the body for a very modern, sexy look. It is very popular amongst prom girls and lends itself very well to simple, uncluttered looks. It also works very well for modern brides, particularly for a less formal ceremony where a less grand style is appropriate.
A-Line
This is a very flattering style which suits most body shapes. The shape is as the name suggests in an A shape from bodice or waist to floor. It is a very traditional style for bridal wear.
Empire
Empire line gowns fall from the bust but do not hug the figure. The skirt falls fairly straight and is not too full. This can be a very useful and comfortable shape for mums-to-be!
Mermaid
Mermaid style has an hour glass shape with a skirt which flares out at the bottom like a mermaid?s tail. It is a very sexy style and particularly suits a curvaceous figure.
Fishtail
This shape is very similar to the mermaid except that the dress appears to be straight from the front but from the back has an extra panel of fabric which extends from approximately half way down the skirt to the floor and fans out into a small train for a very elegant, sophisticated look.
